If you've been reading this blog for any length of time you'll know that I have been planning on a new T.V. for quite a while. Well, that time is here (well this upcoming weekend it will be), but I have a dilemma. I have narrowed my choices down to two televisions. First I am looking at the Vizio VX42LHDTV. It's a 42" LCD T.V. with a boat load on connections (guess where my Mac Mini is going :D) and it's cheap, real cheap, $999. LCD offers a lot of things I am looking for, one being a slightly higher horizontal resolution than plasma (1366 vs. 1024) which might make for a better display with the Mac. Second it has a very low amount of glare, and I have a few windows in my living room. Third it has no fans, plasma does. The next is the Phillips 42PFP5332D/37 this is a 42" plasma set. This too is a pretty cheap set, $1094. Plasma has its own benefits like LCD does. First the way plasma displays black. Blacks on plasma are quite a bit deeper than they are on LCD. Second is response time. LCD's list a response time (in milliseconds), plasma doesn't. Plasma is more like conventional CRT in that respnse time between frames is near instantaneous. So for me this has ended up becoming a research nightmare. I've spent HOURS reading on the differences (btw, neither set is 1080p) and I am pretty sure i'll be getting the Vizio. Now, if I can just get my 36" Toshiba sold! $200 any takers?
The time has arrived.......................
