A question of evolution…………………………..

So as I have noted earlier, I have begun to read Richard Dawkins book The Blind Watch Maker. I won’t spend time discussing the details of the book but I will elude to the fact that his book is about the argument against creationism, or the more popular and current theory of Intelligent Design. Mr. Dawkins explanations of evolution are very detailed and very well thought out. They also explain a lot of what the proponents of Creationism/I.D. claim are the “faults within the theory of evolution. Again, I won’t recite the book just go get it. The question I now have after reading a little bit into this book (and one I have though about in the past and never put into words before) is, if evolution exists and is still occurring (which I believe it is), then what are we to become?
I’m not so arrogant as to think that we the human race are as good as it gets. Do we not need to evolve any further? Of course we are the dominant life form on the planet as far as our adaptability and ingenuity are concerned. But what about our physical form? What needs do we have that evolution could provide for us in the way of an altered physiology? We currently occupy a vast range of habitats on our planet, high altitudes, to deserts, to frozen wastelands in the near arctic. The only place we don’t reside is in the oceans, and the lack of easily accessible oxygen obviously makes it that way. But what about someplace further up? Like….space.
We all know that the planet is in the midst of a change, whether it is man made or not I won’t discuss (I know the rest of this post will draw some criticism as it is, why add global warming to the mix?). Let’s just assume that in the future we will be traveling in space. The distances that must be traveled (using current technologies) to reach anything remotely resembling a hospitable environment are immense. Most people who will read this can not even conceive of just how vast these distances are. These voyage will take thousands of years. Let us also assume (ass+u+me, I know the joke) that we will have created gigantic vessels with which to take these journeys on. In order to make the trip generation after generation of humans will have to be conceived and born on this ship
After so many successive generation being born in a low gravity environment what will we look like? Common sense would say that lower gravity negates the need for bulky muscles right? No need for bulging biceps when everything weighs a fraction of what it did back on Earth. Will we be taller or shorter?

I know this is an odd post, but then again I tend to think a little differently than most people I know. You can expect that from me. I’m going to add more to this down the road so if it leaves you hanging don’t worry, there’s always more to come from me.
