Creepy drive to work...........................

So I had to come in to work this morning (Sunday). On my way in I happened to see a few things that were just out of place for a 5 a.m. drive on a Sunday morning in December.

The way I go to work takes me down a country highway (M-50), and on a Sunday morning at 5 a.m. you tend to see very little in the way of people or even animals, although deer do pop up when you least expect it.

Today was a bit different though.

I hit a stretch of M-50 that has woods on one side, and an huge open field on the other. No houses within almost a mile on either side. I saw something on the side of the road up ahead on the woods side of the road so started to slow up a bit. Sitting on the guard rail (there is a gully leading into the woods..hence the need for a guard rail)was a person wearing a ski mask. This was on the passenger side of the road (my right). I looked out the passenger side window as I passed this person and they were wearing sunglasses. Yeah..I said sunglasses. 5 a.m. on a December morning in the snow,sitting on a guard rail, a mile from the nearest house sat a person. They watched me as I drove by at about 30mph. They didn't wave, they didn't move...they just stared. Kinda freaked me out a bit.

About another 5 miles up I saw a big patch of snow in the middle of the road in an otherwise bare area. I got within about 100 feet of the patch of snow and it took off. It wasn't snow, it was about 50 or 60 white and grey pigeons. I have never seen pigeons out in the countryside around here before so it was just weird. And why were they sitting in the middle of M-50?

So I am almost to the end of my stretch of M-50 and get to see a lovely,enourmous, brilliant bright red patch of blood spread along the roadside. Yeah, I guess something big like a semi truck must have hit a deer earlier in the morning. Regardless it was just gross as all hell and added to the ambiance of my already weird drive to work.

But all is well and I am ready to head back home.
