Profound statements of a six year old.............

What do six year olds talk about? Cartoons? Video games? Bugs? Ninjas? Sure that's what a "typical" six year old might talk about.....not mine though. What does mine talk about? Here's an example. Today Mason said to me,"Dad, you know when the dinosaurs were here?" I said, "yes a very long time ago." He responds, "When dinosaurs were here, we were aliens." I asked him what he was talking about. He told me that when dinosaurs ruled the planet, we came here from space. He said that we were aliens then, but we aren't now. He said.....and I quote. "People were children then." I asked if he meant that there were only kids back then and he said "no" all people were children. So after asking if he meant that there were only children (in a different phrasing) he got frustrated with me and said, " no! men were children then, we were NEW"! How the HELL does a 6 year old come up with that?!?!?! So I asked him where he heard that, to which he responds with a statement I am ALMOST getting used to.....,"my brain told me". So...to sum it up, my son said that we..mankind, were came here during the time of the dinosaurs. A rather profound thought for a six year old. Hell, rather profound for many adults. After further discussions about this he informed me that meteors (yeah he knows a meteorite is one that makes it to earth..blame me for that I guess) brought man here to live. Weird eh?

I suppose I can throw one more story about Mason out there while I'm at it. About two months ago he asked me if," I knew who Jesus was". I said yes, to which he responded,"Jesus is love".

I asked what he meant. He said, "Jesus is love get it?" I asked where he heard this, and he said, "my brain told me in a dream". !!! I asked again, "no really Mason, who told you that?" And he never varies his response. No one told him these things, we don't attend church, have no religious friends who would have told him that. He's said other things that are even more stunning to me than that, but I feel that if I share them people might think I'm nuts so I'm keeping my mouth shut.

Encourage the free thought and you can expect great things from Mason in the future.
