I think weird thoughts.......................................

So I was watching my machine run today (my machine measures parts to an accuracy of +/-0.0002") using a ruby tipped probe. It looks like this.

Anyways, I got to thinking about how when I am measuring parts, that this ruby tip is never really making actual contact with the part, hell.....NOTHING EVER REALLYTOUCHES ANYTHING>>>>>>>EVER!!!!! What the hell am I talking about?

Think about it this way, we (and everything else) are made up of atoms....... atoms have a nucleus, that nucleus is surrounded by a "fog" of electrons, when we "touch" something all we ever really do is get really close to touching something because we if you get down to the atomic level you will see that there is never really any "physical" contact between atoms. If there were, we might be in for a bit of a surprise when we start knocking electrons of of atoms and start changing the sub-atomic structure of things! LOL....
Yeah, like I said, I'm weird!
