Captains Log:
Stardate: 03232006
I find myself here at work, wondering what the hell is going on. We did have a company meeting to let us know of what changes are being made, but I am trying to rationalize the decisions being made. I know that people who are far more experienced in the world of corporate decision making are handling matters the way they best see fit. But to myself (and especially those who are less educated in the ways of the business world) the choices being made look as if they are going to destroy this company. Morale is so low right now I don’t think that if the company caught fire, any of the shop floor workers would lift a finger to help put it out. And that is sad. I know that in order for ANY manufacturing company in the United States to survive against the onslaught of China’s cheap labor, lean is where it’s at. It still doesn’t make it feel any better when you see co-workers getting laid off, or shuffled onto other shifts.
I guess I just need to be VERY THANKFUL that we all have jobs and that I at least get to remain on first shift due to my position in the company.
CYA later.
