February 27th 5:45 a.m. Becky comes into the bedroom and says to me,"I think I'm in labor"
I jump up out of bed and ask if she's sure. She is pretty sure and tell me she's been having contractions since around midnight. I run downstairs and remember that I didn't fill up with gas the day before! So I get dressed VERY FAST, run out and jump in the car and go get gas. When I get back I get Mason out of bed and get some clothes packed for him. I Then call our daycare provider and ask her if we can drop Mason off. I get Becky's bag loaded into the car, then load Mason into the car. Becky is loaded up and we're off! We drop Mason off at Maggies around 5:00, and then we hit the roqad to head to the hospital (which by the way is about 35 minutes away!). It was snowing pretty steadily, and the roads were slick! BUT, I am a pretty good driver under most circumstances so the weather wasn't too much of an issue for me. But Becky was clearly not in any comfort, she kept (searching for a good word here) crying out? Yelling? Yeah, yelling that it hurt. Her contractions were getting closer together and at one point she said," I'm going to be really bummed if I don't get to have an epidural". LOL, funny eh?
We arrive at Sparrow at about 5:35, the parking attendant ran inside and got a wheelchair for us. On the way into the building we were informed by a guard that there must be "SOMETHING IN THE AIR tonight because we were couple number four to come in to deliver! Crazy!
5:40 We make it into Labor and Delivery and are put into a triage room so Becky can be "checked" we are told by the triage nurse that she is dilated to 8cm and that by the time we are put into the delivery room that she'll be ready to deliver!
5:45 We are in the delivery room and Becky is telling them she wants to push! And she is told to go ahead!
As she starts to push the Doctor arrives, dressed very nicely I might add, he looks at her and decides to just put a smock on over his clothes, Becky pushes again.................................
On the second push you can start to see hair!
Third push and his head is all the way out!
Fourth push (and a long one at that) and Carter Jamie MacDonald is brought into this world at 5:57a.m.
A 17 minute delivery!
And a miracle no less......
I love you becky....you did so good it is awe inspiring!
